Acropolis Museum Celebrated October 28 with Free Entrance for Families

The Acropolis Museum in Athens will open its doors to families with children aged eight to 12 years old on the October 28 as part of the national holiday.  Families can explore the Parthenon Gallery with the aid of a new activity pack on The Parthenon Marbles. The museum’s activity packs for children can be loaned out from the Information Desk with presentation of an ID card.

The pack contains specially designed educational printed material, toys and other surprises, which allow children to combine learning and play while visiting the museum.

As an added bonus, there is free entrance to the museum and all its galleries – including the temporary exhibition Dodona: The Oracle of Sounds – on October 28, when Greeks celebrate‘OXI’ day and Greek resistance to the Axis forces in WWII.

As on every other Friday, there will be gallery talks in Greek and English by archaeologists presenting specific topics, available on a first-come, first-served basis.

These include a presentation on Dodona: The Oracle of Sounds (at 13:00 in Greek and 11:00 in English) and A walk around the Museum with an archaeologist (at 18:00 in English and 20:00 in Greek).

The museum restaurant will remain open until midnight, with music by well-known Athenian jazz musicians after 20:00.
