Cretan diet Festival - summer 2014

Yesterday at 20.00 in the city park of Rethymno, Crete, was the opening of the annual festival of the Cretan diet. Festival will be held until July 5 and include activities such as exhibitions of products of Cretan land, tastings and cultural seminars.

Every evening from 19.00 to 24.00 anyone who is interested, has the opportunity to try the products of local manufacturers and visit cultural events dedicated to the island of Crete.
Cretan diet basically remain unchanged at least since the beginning of II millennium BC, confirming this the samples of writing of the period, found in the palaces of Knossos and Phaistos which, along with traditional products (honey, wine, figs, barley, sage) referred to olive oil. It always was olive oil and remains until now the basis of the Mediterranean diet. Paramount importance also has cheese, cereals, legumes, fish and wine.
