Cycladic island of Santorini was voted as the best island in the world in 2014, according to the popular  tourist magazine "Travel + Leisure". Typing 89,98 points,  Santorini managed to beat three Hawaiian islands- Maui (2nd place), Kauai (3rd place) and Big Island of Hawaii (4th place). The top ten also includes: Bali (Indonesia), Oahu (Hawaii), Galapagos Islands (Ecuador), British Virgin Islands, o.Vankuver (Canada), San Juan (Washington).

In addition, in the list of the best European islands, three Greek islands have praiseworthy places! Apart from Santorini, which topped the list, 3rd - and 5th places are owned respectively by Crete and Mykonos.

Capital Hotel "Grande Bretagne" also marked readers' liking. With 92.32 points Athenian hotel took the 13th place among the best hotels in Europe.

Ratings were made by voting of readers of "Travel + Leisure", which was held for the 19th time.
