Greece plans to reduce the VAT rate

International creditors urge Greece to reduce tax rates, despite the fact that the highest rate of tax is subject to a small part of the goods. So, with the publishing production (books, newspapers), hotel accommodation and tickets will be charged VAT at the rate of 6.5%. Food, some medicines, reconstruction and rehabilitation work in the accommodation, restaurants, medical services are taxed with 13%.

Currently is being discussed the reduction of the highest rate to 19%. This should increase fiscal discipline, thereby saving state revenues at the same level.

The European Commission, meanwhile, increases the amount of work with the tax authorities of Greece, providing comprehensive support in the revision of the tax laws.

One of the principal benefits of tax changes for property buyers this year is the decline in the tax rate when buying a second home and a new building with a resolution of up to 2006 to 3%.
