Positive marks for next year in Greek tourism

Greece is set to become an even more popular destination for British and German tourists next year, according to provisional data on the back of a record season that is now nearing its end.
A survey by Britain’s Low Cost Holidays online travel agency has shown that Britons are showing a particular preference for Crete thanks to new flight services scheduled for next year. Besides Greece, Turkey and Tunisia are also witnessing increased interest for next season.
The German market is showing a further increase in bookings for 2015. The head of the Association of Hellenic Tourism Enterprises (SETE), Andreas Andreadis, said that with the German tourism market having grown 3 percent this year compared to 2013, Greece is earning a significant share of that and entering the race for 2015 as a favorite.
A Gfk survey showed that Germans spent 7.8 percent more on bookings for 2015 last month compared with the same month in 2013, up from a 5.4 percent annual rise a year earlier. Market experts say Greek hoteliers have negotiated a 3 to 4 percent rate increase in contracts signed with foreign tour operators for 2015.
