Automated transport systems - buses without drivers in Athens

After Trikala town the pilot project will be implemented in the capital city Athens. According to the project the new buses will operate without the physical presence of the driver. This will be functioning using the technology of intelligent control systems that will be installed in the buses. Data processing is carried out by qualified operators in the field of remote control at a checkpoint.

 

Deputy Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Michalis Papadopoulos assured that during the implementation of the pilot program will be taken all necessary measures for the safe operation of buses without drivers.

Automated transport systems, are expected to play a major role in the life of European citizens. The aim of the program is the introduction of automated routes without drivers in five cities.
