A very high position in the global ranking of environmentally-friendly places in the world that has been created for the first time, was taken by five Greek regions, winning the positions in the top "100 Sustainable Destinations Global”.

The list includes Ierapetra (Crete), Naxos, Alonissos, Samothrace and Athos.

In particular, Ierapetra, gaining 8.1 points, ranked third in the list of destinations. Alonissos gained 7.7 points and is on 14th position. Athos collected 4.4 points and Samothrace and Naxos  4.2 each.

The studies were conducted by the international platform of destinations which meet the high standards of quality and ecology, the so-called «Green Destinations».

The rating was created as a result of social networking survey by the media alongside with the careful selection done by 30 international experts.
