A suburb of Athens port Piraeus will be the sea capital of Europe, from 28 to 31 May 2015, holding major event- the European Maritime Day. During the opening ceremony, which will take place on Thusday, May 28th the Mayor of Piraeus Yiannis Morales will announce the beggining of the celebration, of the European ''Maritime Day''.

Celebrating the ''European Maritime Day 2015'' includes the conference, which will be held on May 28- 29 with the central theme ''The ports and the coast: the sea Gate Development'' as well as more than 60 side events on Saturday, 30th and Sunday, May 31 in Piraeus.

Measures that seek to engage all relevant- holders with a view to emphasize the ''marine culture'' of Piraeus, include exhibitions, tours of the main attractions and the ships in the harbor of Piraeus, concerts, theater pergormances, traditional dances, tasting of Piraeus, contests, cucling competition and parties.
