Deutsche Welle reports that more Russian and German tourists are expected to visit Greece in 2016. Turkey is the top foreign holiday destination for Russian tourists. Some 3.2 million Russian tourists travelled to Turkey last year, according to Russian federal Tourism Agency. In comparison 2.5 million went on holiday to Egypt. Those two popular destinations for Russia, noted a decline following the Russian passenger plane crash by ISIS bombing and the recent downing of a Russian jet fighter by Turkish Air Force. As a result Russian tourists will choose Greece as an alternative holiday destination in the coming year.
