President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin is scheduled to visit Athens at the end of May, with the aim to strengthen Greece-Russia ties in financial and energy issues.
The official visit has been confirmed by both the Greek government spokesperson Olga Gerovassili and the spokesperson for the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov.
President Putin’s visit to the Greek capital will also coincide with the start of construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) natural gas pipeline in Greece, a gateway to Europe for Azeri gas from the Caspian Sea.
