As every year, regular travelers who keep returning to Rhodes were honored by the island in a special ceremony. Awards were given by Rhodes Mayor Fotis Hadjidiakos.
Among the most frequent visitors are those who have visited the island on an annual basis, always staying at their favorite Calypso Hotel. They first visited in 1975 and this summer marked their 50th visit to the island bearing in mind that there have been years when the couple has come twice in a year.
Frank Sterckx from Belgium also received an honorary distinction, a reward for 20 returns to the island. Sterckx stays at the Blue Horizon, with his partner Jitka Kivit Novothy from the Netherlands, who also received an honorary award for her visits to the island. They both said that their visits to the island feel like home as they have made many friends and feel like insiders.
