First International Wine Tourism Congress to be Held October in Santorini

Santorini is a popular tourist destination for many reasons. Now, the island, known for its ancient grape varieties and wine will be hosting the first International Wine tourism Congress this October.

The event will take place at the Petros Nomikos Conference Center in the village of Firostefani with support and organizations provided by the University of the Aegean and the University of South Australia.

From October 14 to 16 the congress will meet to address development plans and the future prospects of wine tourism.

The congress will be chaired by Paris Tsartas, professor of tourism at the University of the Aegean, and Yannis Vogiatzis, winemaker and president of National Inter-professional Organization of Vine and Wine. Thessaloniki Mayor Yiannis Boutaris of the Boutari Winery has been named honorary chairman
