The Athens University of Economics and Business is among the top 200 universities worldwide according to the prestigious Shanghai International Ranking of World Universities.
The organization, which produces one of the most authoritative lists in the world, ranked more than 4,000 higher education institutions in 52 scientific fields.
The Athens University of Economics and Business was ranked between 151-200 in the field of Social Sciences.
In particular, in the field of Economics, it was assessed as being on par with famous universities such as the Freie University in Berlin, Heidelberg University, Queen Mary in London, the Technological University of Munich, the University College of London and the University of Vienna.
Rankings were based on variables such as the number of publications, citations, international collaborative publications, publications in high-quality scientific journals, and the number of university staff who received scientific prizes.
“The international recognition enjoyed by the Athens University of Economics and Business once again is the result of many years of effort by its members, often in particularly difficult circumstances,” Emmanouil Yakoumakis, Rector of the Athens University of Economics, said.
He added that “This recognition encourages all of us to continue this effort. The international good reputation of Greek universities is a springboard for the country’s progress.”
