Taxpayers’ arrears to the state totaled 99.970 billion euros, while the number of debtors was 4,068,857 on January 1, 2018, George Pitsilis, governor of the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), said on Friday.

Speaking to reporters during a media day event organized by the European Commission, Pitsilis said that 78 pct of debtors owed up to 2,000 euros to the state (3,170,620 taxpayers), while a 54.1 pct owed less than 500 euros.

A total of 73 debtors owed more than 100 million euros each, with the total debt reaching 32.091 billion euros.

A total of 1,121 debtors owed 28.658 billion euros, while another 4,665 taxpayers’ debt totaled 17.267 billion euros.
