Greek Island Gets Ready to Host Special Tourism Summit

Orthodox Easter is fast approaching and the island of Crete is hosting a special tourism summit to celebrate everything the famous destination has to offer.

Travel Massive Crete is marking April 5, the eve of Good Friday, with a free, culture-inspired event in the scenic location of Argyroupoli.

‘Traditions: Powerful Tools for Rural Tourism Development’ will focus on cultural tourism development and promotion.

During the free conference, participants will sample local produce and learn about the history and traditions of Argyroupoli.

Among the presentations will be:

  • “The Case of Enagron Ecotourism Village,” presented by Anastasia Chatziioannou, Project Manager at EyeWide Digital Marketing Agency;
  • “Linking Tourism Consumption to Domestic Products,” presented by Dr. Hatzimarinakis Stavros from the Laboratory of Research and Tourism Satellite Accounts, University of Patras; and
  • “Cultural Appeal: How to Dazzle Travelers with Heritage Values,” by Mihaela Lica Butler, award-winning travel writer, founder and principal partner at Pamil Visions Travel PR

On Good Friday itself, participants will be invited to join local people in marking this holy day. There will be a procession of the Epitaph and a Good Friday church service, as well as traditional Cretan dishes prepared by village women under the guidance of professional chefs and the Cretan Center of Gastronomy.
