The official representative of Greek Government, Stelios Petsas, along with the Minister of Development and Investments Adonis Georgiadis, mentioned the changes in the operation of the market in the country during the New Year Holiday period. The relief of the measures of social distancing is expected in various sectors.

A significant relief of the quarantine measures will be in force for everyone entering Greece from abroad, from 21st December 2020 to 7th January 2021. For them, the quarantine precautionary period will be decreased to only three days from ten days.

The restriction of movement during the night will be reduced. From 13th December to 7th January, the night restriction will be in force from 10 at night (instead of 9) until 5 in the morning. At the same time, for Greeks, the SMS continues to be an obligation for necessary movements. The courier services are no longer able to handle the work load. From this perspective, from 13th December to 7th January the Click Away system will be in force for the product delivery.
This means that buyers will have to pre-order and receive their purchases from the store.

The bookstores will open in Greece from 14th of December. Safety measures need to be applied: stores with surface smaller than 100 square meters will receive up to 4 clients, or one person per 15 squre meters, when it comes to stores with larger area.

Hairdressers will accept visitors from 14th of December from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. In addition , restrictions apply only for them: only four working spots may operate in the saloon, and hairdressers and their clients shall keep a social distance of two meters.
On Christmas and Theofania (25th of December and 6th of January correspondently), churches will be open. A restriction will apply in local churches: nine parishioners in local temples. The cathedrals will accept up to 25 people at the same time.
Regarding the retail stores, the suspension of operation will continue.

We are reminding that during November 2020, the Greek Government decided the implication of a strict quarantine. This was due to a rapid increase of corona virus cases. The strict restrictive measures were effective – during December the number of cases started to decrease.
If we compare the date from 11th November to 11th December of the current year, the new corona virus cases have decreased from 2751 to 1395, viz. almost twice.
