The courtyard of the Greek Parliament at Athens’ Syntagma Square has been turned into a construction site as work has begun to repair the roof of the building.
The project was deemed necessary by House Speaker Nikos Voutsis after the roof leaked during a downpour in February.
Officials rushed to cover the newly installed computers as lawmakers expressed fears for their safety.
Until the €1-million project is completed in September, the plenary of the parliament will be held at an adjoining hall.
The roof of the building has not been fully restored since its construction in 1934.
