Real estate in Athens attracts investors

Investing in real estate is one of the most practical ways to realize income. And it’s doubly profitable if it comes to investing in housing in the resort region. Owners always have the opportunity to live by themselves or rent out an acquired house or apartment. Perhaps, that's why so many people tend to buy a small house or villa by the sea, where tourists are always looking for lucrative accommodation options.

Greece has long been an object of interest for those who want to buy property abroad. Affordable prices and good location are the reason. Athens every year is becoming more and more popular international direction for investors of small and medium-sized businesses. Of particular interest, of course, are the houses and villas due to affordable prices and quick payback, which is made possible by short-term leases through various Internet platforms. They are safe and convenient to use.

In the first five months of this year, the Athens Land Register recorded an increase in the number of contracts by 49.2%. That is almost half more than during the same period last year. Specialists of the real estate market argue that the interest in buying real estate, in particular apartments in the center of Athens, does not change in recent times. One of the reasons for this is the fact that foreign investors believe that prices will soon start to grow, and this, in turn, will affect the ability to make significant profits in the future. All this clearly indicates the dynamics in the housing market in the center of Athens and, mainly in the areas of Koukaki, Plaka, Monastiraki, Neos Kosmos, Metz, Kerameikos, Metaxourghio, Gazi, Pangrati, and Exarcheia.

Representatives in real estate management report that at the moment about 7000 apartments and houses can be found and rented on various Internet platforms, for example, Airbnb. This becomes an obstacle to lower prices. According to the Bank of Greece, for the first quarter of this year, property prices fell by only 0.1%. This figure is the lowest for 10 years after the crisis began.
